This is a work of fiction. All characters, events, and places are of the author’s imagination and not to be confused with fact. Any resemblance to living persons or events is merely coincidence.

Kyra used to think mornings were hard on her. She would lie in bed about an hour after the alarm went off, trying to fully wake up before starting her day. Now that she no longer needed an alarm clock and only woke up at night, she discovered it was actually waking up that was hard on her all along.

She stretched her whole body straight, like a cat, and yawned. Rolling over and looking at the clock, she saw it was well into the night. Time to eat. With that thought, her stomach rumbled and cramped painfully and she put the pressure of her hand against it.

The knowledge of what she had done the previous night hit her again like a shot and she fought the sudden onslaught of tears. Kyra had been 'hunting' food, going around and killing other people's pets so she could survive without killing any humans. Now she had killed her own pet, as well, the last living thing that she had loved and was able to go anywhere near. He had loved her, and she had betrayed his trust in her. The guilt over not only his death, but the deaths of all the others, was nearly unbearable.

She had spent the last of her waking hours trying to think of what she should do about blood and had come up completely empty-handed. She was already so hungry she could hardly stand it. How much worse would it be if she had no more luck hunting tonight than she had last night? How long could a vampire go without eating? Her guess was not that long. Since she had been turned, she woke every night with severe hunger pains. She could not imagine how bad they would be if she did not eat for a day or more.

Get up Kyra. It was hard to follow her own demand, put she pushed back the covers and sat up on the edge of the bed. She looked around the room at the mess of dirty clothes in the corner and the pile of clean ones beside the bed and sighed. Why had it seemed so important before to keep everything perfectly organized? Why was it now that she was dead-ish she no longer cared about cleaning anything?

Lack of hope. Lack of any real future. What sort of future could possibly await her now?

Kyra started at a sudden noise outside. Is someone … ? No, couldn't be. Still, she jumped to her feet, wrapped her arms around herself, and moved quickly to the window. She pulled back the curtain and tried to see out through the pinhole she had not been able to completely rid herself of, but she saw very little of the outside world, and nothing that could have made the noise.

When she heard it again, it sent a cold chill up her spine.

Not outside! Inside! Someone had broken into her house! She whirled around just in time to watch the door to her room swing open and a man step through.

A naked man.

A very excited naked man.

Her eyes were unnervingly riveted to the giant cock that bounced and swayed as he strode into the room, and it took several seconds for the shock to wear off. When it did, she felt her whole face heat in a deep blush as she pulled her eyes forcefully up his body to the deep brown eyes that met and held hers. She glanced quickly around the room, but saw no sign of her cell phone. Shit! Not charged! Damn it. Too late, she remembered why orderliness was so important, just as she remembered that all of those human fears were supposed to be beyond her now.

Wait a second … I'm a vampire. He can't hurt me. Lunch just arrived! Kyra fought against the smile that was trying to curl her lips at that thought. Surely there was no harm in killing an intruder, especially one that had obviously come in with rape on his mind?

She straightened her back and held her ground as he stepped forward. Nothing to fear now. What's the worst he could possibly do to me? The thought was actually quite liberating.

Kyra allowed her eyes to travel down his body, over chiseled chest, ripped abs, and finally down to the massive cock throbbing between his legs. In spite of herself it occurred to her that this could actually be pretty fun. This man was about to get a heck of a lot more than he had bargained for!

He seemed to take her inaction as an invitation and moved closer.

No, wait … It's all wrong. She looked up to his eyes again as she realized why that was. How many men that looked like him were in the habit of breaking in to people's houses? She took a small step back, suddenly not so sure of herself. Is it a hallucination? Am I dying of hunger? Or … is it something worse? There had been a time when all she would have feared were humans, but that was before Kyra discovered there were real monsters in the world. Could he be a vampire, come to finish the job the other one started? That sent a flood of fear through her soul.
